Shakespear to Waiwera

After a great first night at Shakespear, we ventured into the park for a hike. It was our first real taste of the New Zealand landscape. Sweeping views of the pastoral landscape greeted us. The hike circled the point and offered fantastic views north and south, back to Auckland.

We pressed on north about a half hour, which was actually quite a feat for Jon's left-side-of the road driving and my nerves! The next stop: Waiwera thermal hot springs resort. We stayed at a holiday park right next to the resort.
We camped right on the beach, and after a night of soaking, were greeted by yet another spectacular sunrise.

We walked out to the point to explore the tide pools.

Really fascinating geologic formations here.

View from the campervan....not too shabby!!!! This campervan is great! After our morning walk and coffee (yes, Jon has started joining me in my morning ritual!) we continue our Journey north....today will be a big driving day, and Jon is up to the task!
