Getting Ready to Go!

The BIG DAY is almost here! We leave for New Zealand on Saturday, August 18th and arrive in Auckland on Monday, August 20th. I'm really not sure what happens to Sunday since the flight is only 14 hours! We'll be at the Langham Hotel in Auckland for two days before getting our campervan. At this point, our plan is to drive the north island first, then venture to the south island. We figure we'll spend about three weeks on each island. Have camera will travel! I'm also bringing my sketching and watercoloring supplies, so you'll all hopefully get to enjoy some nice artwork along the way.

We found a nice place to live in Santa Barbara, right near the bike path and close to the beach. Our new neighbors all seem very nice. We moved most of our belongings up to the house on Monday, and our friend Kristen came over with a great dinner of fresh halibut burritos! It was so wonderful to sleep with all of the windows open and feel fresh, cool ocean breezes. It was 102 degrees when we got back to San Bernardino today, so as you can imagine, we're ready to move on!

The fire in Santa Barbara is still blazing away. Luckily some of our friends were able to return home, although one can't seem to find anything after hastily packing in the throes of an evacuation! Hopefully all will return to normal soon. We'll have an interesting few years coming up watching the fire recovery and succession.

Stay tuned and we'll start posting our travel adventures starting next week. Hope you all enjoy living viariously through us!!!

Your blog is very cool! First time I've ever checked one out!
All is quiet and flameless on the mountain now. Found the keys and a working cell phone, but still surrounded by piles of evacuated possessions!
Happy Trails to you...'til we meet again!

If you are experienced Dexterity programmer, who have access to Dynamics GP Source Code, you are pretty much unlimited in your Great Plains customization abilities.
